Dear 2017-18 Sponsors and Donors:

  •  If you would like to become a sponsor of American Medical Student Association University of Houston  Premedical Honors Chapter  contact Mr. Ozair Ghulam , Sponsorship & Philanthropy Director at

“Per IRS rules, nonprofits can acknowledge sponsors by mentioning or displaying the following: company name, company logo, product lines and contact information (address, phone number, web address). Nonprofits are also permitted to mention slogans and value-neutral descriptions of a sponsor’s goods or services in acknowledging their support. In addition, nonprofits can display or distribute a sponsor’s products to the general public at the sponsored activity or event.” – Abdo, Eick and Meyers, LLP

At this time, we do not have an advertisement program, as such would require up to 45% of monies paid into taxes and  more money for legality issues. We are a non-profit student run organization. We do not get funding from UH like some other organizations do. We have fundraisers such as bake sales and in the past have only gotten a couple of scholarships from one MCAT prep company on behalf of our national organization’s agreement with that company. We are well aware that other premedical organizations and counselors get multitudes of MCAT Prep Courses donated to them to use however they want to. We have not been approached with the likes of such scholarships.

We can accept donations, grants, scholarships, and sponsorship from most any industry.  In order to honor our national organization’s agreement we must exclude other  MCAT prep course sponsorship and pharmaceutical sponsorship.

If you are an MCAT prep company, you are welcome to make a donation of funds or a scholarship. If you would like to set up your own display and man a table with one of your representatives at one of our general meetings, you are welcome to make arrangements. However, we cannot announce your company name, or distribute your company materials directly as that would be sponsorship. Your representative cannot display prices or compare itself to other companies or actively sell and we cannot endorse any company because that would be advertising which we do not do.

  • If you wish to donate scholarships please contact Mr. Ozair Ghulam , Sponsorship & Philanthropy Director at
