1. Fill out the appropriate form based on whether you are a new or returning member:
   • New membership application
   • Returning member application
2. Go to http://www.amsa.org
3. Click on “Join” at the top of the page
4. Scroll down and choose your membership (PreMedical Student)
5. Click “Join Now”
6. Scroll down the page and select “Join AMSA Today”
7. Join the AMSA Portal by creating an account
8. Follow directions for joining once you have created an account. Make sure you indicate your institution (University of Houston)
9. To complete the process, you will have to pay the membership fee (local and national) 
   1. National Fee: $75 for four years (one time payment)
   2. Local Fee: $25 for one semester
10. Record your AMSA ID for future reference
11. Send your name and AMSA ID Number to amsa.houston@gmail.com AND a screenshot of the amount you have paid.

Active members are considered to participate in the following activities per semester:

• 75% of all general meetings
• 1 volunteer event
• 2 fundraising events (volunteer or provide supplies)
• 1 medical school event or workshop (Fall or Spring)
• 1 social event

Active members are given priority consideration for officer elections
